UGANDA: SUNIL KUMAR TADA, THE INDIAN LEADER IN ACHOLI SUB REGION FROM LATORO FARM TO MOGUL HOTELER

My area of interest is to change Gulu City to attract international tourists during the Gulu City Oktoberfest festivity, coming October 3-12, 2026. I appeal to the Indian Community from my homeland and those from the European community: this is the right time to visit Gulu City; it is the right time to eat our food and see the other changes in the Acholi rich culture from Uganda.

The Northern Pal Hotel, about a kilometer from Gulu City Business Centre, formerly owned by former LCV Chairman Col. Walter Ochora, was in a sorry state, but an Indian Investor joined the Gulu City hotel business and changed it from grass to grace.

Sunil Kumar Tada, 55 years old, an Investor from India, in 2014 started Latoro crop Horticulture farm, measuring Vegetable, Tomatoes, Zynga, watermelons, and Soybean made a fortune and later shifted to own Gulu City Pearl Hotel, a month Ago he hosted Awilo Longoma, one of the popular singers from DR. “When I started investing in the farming industry, it was still a trying plan for small-scale farming. I am still farming in Nwoya District, animals are still disturbing us there in Nwoya District.” Sunil Kumar Tada reiterates.

Sunil Kumar, a business mogul, revealed that during the tenure of farming, we made a lot of losses until we moved inside from the main road. I shifted from location until I came to Gulu City.

My first idea was to set up a Cassava Starch Factory plant, the plan is for Nwoya District, for the first time, you do not have a lot of land. Now, I have a plan, and I have changed. Now I am ruining Northern Pearl Hotel; in the meantime, I am running the hotel.

Even though I am a Hosteler, you see now I have a beautiful City flower garden around my compound, even inside my sitting room and gardens. I have planted trees and flowers everywhere.

“If you are a hosteller and a farmer, you have important kinds of flowers. I bring my uniqueness from India to Gulu City, beautifying your compound. Oktoberfest is coming; let us showcase the case here in Gulu City. I am serving to see flowering life; we are struggling to see them.” Sunil Kumar stressed.

Boosted fully, Sunil Kumar acknowledged that I am open. This is my City, Gulu City is my home, when I am doing wrong, the city has to advise me. I don’t want to be like a stranger; this is my home.

When asked how he managed Rotary and Hotel, Mr. Sunil Kumar mentioned Rotary and Hotel. We went far to a stratifying hotel. I am organizing some of my business partners, we want to sell our city to appear beautiful, warm, and welcoming to the visitors, and the guests feel welcome and keep coming.

To inform some other visitors coming from India, my homeland, and those Indians resident in the United Kingdom, Oktoberfest is not for a day; it is from October 3-12, 2026. This is the right time to visit Gulu City, it is the right time to eat Indian dishes and Acholi traditional dishes, eat one food and see Acholi culturally rich heritages from Uganda, particularly from Northern Uganda.

Oktoberfest is the main festival in Germany; for years, Germany has been celebrating; however, the event shifted to Gulu City, which has a showcase for trauma healing events after the 1986.2006 Northern Uganda conflict. Just a week ago, Gulu City Lord Mayor Alfred Okwonga launched and declared that the event would take place.

Mr Sunil Kumar also echoed that the event also meets other traders all over Uganda. This is the right time for traders in Gulu City; it will be good for them to bring in their commodities.

Basically, this Oktoberfest is a very good opportunity for people who have suffered to get healing as they mix freely, any event of this big scale is beneficial for people to have business connections.

Oktoberfest is kind of south of Sarah. We are pushing for all hoteliers in Gulu City to have natural trees and flowers to have a green city; it is like a movement to have green hotels.

I even told my neighbors that I can beautify their compound, but people look at good ideas as a threat and as a danger to them.

A dream will never die with the founder, so long as the structure remains, the skeleton’s future remains. Someone else will carry the dream; now comes Sunil Kumar.
