The body of late Rev. Father Morris Okot, of the Diocese of Gulu Catholic Church, a London political asylum seeker (from 1989 to London), was torn apart in the dispute between the alleged surviving widow, claiming she is the rightful heir of the deceased.

Amidst the failed intervention of the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Gulu, His Most Rev. Raphael p’Mony Wokorach to block the burial of Rev. Father Morris Okot outside the Catholic cemetery at St Philip’s Cathedral Church, his remains were laid to rest on Wednesday, October 20, 2026, by hired goons, the so-called Aguu, by Mr Nyero Walter, as three grass thatch huts were set on fire by unknown people.

Lanyero Jenifer, in pain taking narrates to Our Correspondent that on the faithful night of Wednesday, his Uncle Rev Father Morris Okot was buried without conducting prayer, in grave which was dug that very night by the goon called Aguu who was ferried from Gulu City, by the people who were not known to them before the demise of his Uncle Rev. Father Morris Okot.

“After the attempted mediation organised by Deputy RCC, Peter Banya, in his office, Gulu City Residence Commissioner, on Upper Churchill Court, we left with the Archbishop, His Most Rev. Father Raphael p’Mony Wokorach, to sleep at St Philip Cathedral, Gulu Catholic Archdiocese, with the knowledge that the body of my uncle will be buried on Friday as planned.

Early on Saturday October 21, a weak up when my property was being thrown out, and three huts of my rented huts were set on fire, by the group led by Piloya Josephine who alleged that the Rev. Father Morris Okot when she was leaving Uganda in 1989 to London. He left the country she had conceived.

“Three rented huts were set on fire, and my property was thrown out, while groups of people were demolishing my building; it was a trying moment for me and my sister Betty Ocwee. And yet my late Uncle bought us the land with my late mother, who passed on some time back.

We have lived in Agwee Wii Got Cell for over two decades; if those alleged Rev. Father Morris’ wife and daughter, called Alanyo Peace, were not coming to introduce themselves early, then they are now coming to claim the heritage”. Lanyero Jenifer claimed.

The attempt to reach Archbishop p’ Mony Wokorach was futile, due to his busy schedule.

Sebbi Ogoni, the former NUP Gulu District Local Government Chairman candidate for Gulu District, confirmed that he was arrested by Gulu Deputy RCC, Peter Banya, when he intervened as Acholi Leader, based on the report from Lanyero Jenifer and Betty Ocwee, who accused Mr. Peter Banya of being behind the arson and demolition of their home at Laroo Wii Got Cell.

“I have accused Gulu City Deputy RCC, Peter Banya of ordering the arson, and when I was arrested, it came out that Mr. Banya was only mediating the dispute between the alleged family of the late Rev. Father Morris Okot.”

Added that he has no problem with Mr. Peter Banya because I was misunderstood; on Wednesday, October 20, I was released on police bond.

“We have ironed out our differences with Gulu City Deputy Commissioner Peter Banya”, Sebbi Ogoni commented.

They attempted to reach out to Piloya Josephine, and the group was out of reach; neither the family member of Rev. Father Morris Okot from Agoro Sub County, Lamwo district, whose casket of the late Rev. Father came with their name, could be reached by Press time.

Peter Banya, when contacted for comment, confirmed that he was not born with Sebbi Ogoni.
