Fir 25 years, the government of Uganda has never paid Gombola Internal Security Officers, but they have laid off 23 GISO from Northern Uganda, in 2020 leaving them to fend for themselves on streets.

Fired Gombola Internal Security Officer decries of segregation within the rank of ISO, ‘’ in 2020, 23 CISO from Acholi and Lango Sub Regions has been lay off, and yet the entire GISOs in Uganda are still working.’’ The fired GISO decries.

GULU CITY-UGANDA: The former Northern Uganda, Regional Internal Security Officer (RISO) fired 23 GISO staff and later on he was also laid off, but the forceful retirement just happened within his pulpit, just soon after the Lord’s Resistance Army war ended.

Mr. Joseph Akiki Kabalega, the Regional Internal Security Officer, RISO, in September 2020 called all of us in his office in a briefing meeting, got the letter saying the letter was from the head office in Kampala. Read for us the circular, therefore directed all his staff to offer them to file resignation letters.

‘’Later, we are told to stop working, and all of us left on that day, can you imagine that Mr. Akiki read for us the circular from ISO Director Col. Frank Kaka Bagyenda and that was the end of our work, despite the long suffered we endured during LRA war decades conflict.’’

Okello John who was one of the fired GISO narrates that, the GISO who have been laid off in 2020, all are from Acholi and Lango Sub Regions, he questioned the reason behind the dismissal, says why have we been fired.

Adding that Northern Uganda GISO, Mr. Akiki only said we should file retirement forms and go back home.

‘’When we left our position was replace immediately with new staff and we were left at will, without mercy.’’ Okello commented.

He further says from that time, we have not been paid even our salary and benefits; we are still waiting for our retirement packages.

Mr. Onek Amos, one of the fired GISO, before his demise says the government only mind about work you do to them, but afterward they will not see any usefulness in you after all.

Mr. Amos last year in 2021, suffered when he felt sick, but died a poor man.

In 2021, Onek Amos was laid to rest without getting his benefit, in 1996, President Museveni gave the directive that Gombola Internal Security Officer be recruited and we were deployed.

Oyeng Yeng News investigative teams have unearthed that the laying off of GISO took place only in Northern Uganda, but their counterparts from West Nile, Eastern Region, Central and Southern Regions are still working.

The attempt to reach the ISO Director was futile as his known phones have been busy throughout.
