“We have to make sure that we protect our area against COVID-19, how can two truck drivers camped at Acet Town Boar, Odek Sub County, Omoro District without our notice.”

OMORO-UGANDA: Today Friday 8th May.2020 two Legislators Catherine Lamwaka the Women MP for Omoro and Okot Peter the MP for Toci County  from Omoro  handed over UGX 40 million to Omoro Chief Administrative Officer (AO) Nicklaus Ogwang who received the money on behalf of Omoro RDC Mrs. Susan Akanyo with big praise from the the task force.

“When I got message in my phone receiving UGX 20 million, although I have pressing issues so many demand from Omoro, i have received so many messages people requesting seed and other demand, i say in my heart that i have to wait for the directive, therefore, today I am very happy to hand over this money to you so that Omoro Task Force can buy seed.” Hon Lamwaka was so exited to hand over the money.

She adds on that although today her first time to attend the District Task Force, she was shocked to learned that Gender Based Violent shoot up during COVID-19 lock down, as Vice Chairperson for Parliamentary Committee on GBV, she is interested to follow up the issues.

Lamwaka advice  Omoro Task Force to be on the look out since Kenya Truck Drives has got their way direct to the in land in Omoro District, says she was very worry when she learned that a day when she was at Lakwana Health Center III, the following day all medical workers and 65 patients was taken in isolation quarantine at Opit. she was luck not to visited the Health Centeist, she wondered.

Hon Okot Peter who also handed UGX 20 million advice Omoro COVID-19 Task Force to use the money to prepare borehole, but caution them that the expend to repair one borehole cost UGX 7 million if they used procurement, but the district should look for local plumbers, and out UGX 20 million they can repair at 30 boreholes.

“I know that we have 203 boreholes which got broken, when I look at the cost budget it will cost UGX 1.1 billion, but when I contacted the Ministry of Water  the minister told me that Omoro District Local Government has quarterly budget. so I advice the district to sued the quarterly budget, otherwise Disrict Water Engineer will be fire, and you CAO if you dont implement and repair boreholes.”

Hon Okot says otherwise those who have given their money to repair boreholes in Omoro, that UGX 20 million can only repair only 3 boreholes.

Okello Peter Okao, the Omoro District Chairman revealed that the hand washing and social distancing is very poor, in every households they have visited, you will find Jerrycan, but there is no water in the jerrycan.

He further more alluded that in the evening at around 6.45 PM you find all the young boys flocking to the trading center, but when you asked them they will tell you that they have gone to the center to witness if people are on turning up.
