UGANDA: VETERAN UPC PARTY CHAIRPERSON DIES

Benjamin Oola Ameda succumbed to a stroke on Tuesday evening from Gulu Regional Hospital.

The Uganda People`s Congress Party Chairperson for Gulu district has died.

 

Benjamin Oola Ameda succumbed to a stroke on Tuesday evening from Gulu Regional Hospital.

 

Ameda was also a renowned businessman in Gulu Town owning Ameda and Sons Enterprises. He was also chairperson for Paromo clan in Gulu and Kitgum districts.

 

Samuel Oduny, the deceased brother had earlier been admitted at St Mary`s Hospital Lacor while paralyzed and dumb.

 

Oduny wrote on his official facebook page that the deceased will be laid to rest on Saturday at his home in Agwee Parish Obiya Highland Laroo division in Gulu district.

 

Ameda became the UPC chairman in 2006 after the referendum to restore multi-party politics in the country held in 2005.

 

Before the referendum, he was the UPC party Chairperson for Aswa County.
