Several NUP supporters produced in Uganda Court

From January 18, 2026, the National Platform (NUP), Vice President for Northern Uganda, was kidnapped by unknown forces, and since she has never surfaced elsewhere except today Feb, 6, 2026, she was produced in Gulu High Court Circuit, appeared before Chief Magistrate and later remanded to Gulu Main Prison

In Uganda, anything can happen. Just after the January 15, 2026,, the General and Presidential election, the NUP iron lady Linda Zadriga was reported to have appeared in Gulu High Court early today, court proceedings were before a chief Magistrate, and after the hearing, she was remanded to Gulu Main Prison.

Dr Zadriga’s situation is part of a broader pattern of detentions of NUP officials and supporters following the January 2026 general election in Uganda. She was reported missing around 18 January, shortly after the elections, from Arua City, West Nile, Northern Uganda, where she was residing. Her kidnapped raising widespread concern among party members and human rights observers.

“Before today’s court appearance, there were conflicting reports about her whereabouts, with the Uganda People Defence Forces (UPDF), denying that she was being held in military custody, even as NUP leaders argued she has been abducted by the UPDF miliarty”

Major General Felix Busizoori, Gulu UPDF4th Division Commander,, when asked by Bureau Chief of Uganda Radio Network Julius Ocungi quesioning if Dr Linda Zadriga was being kept in Gulu UPDF4th Division. Ocungi informed him that the information appeared on Social Media. Majpr Gen. Busizoori, sort back who posted that Dr Linda Zadriga is being kept in Gulu 4th Division barracks, tell me who posted the information so that I deal with him, those people who are spreading false news.” Major General Musizoori warned.

Dr Linda Zadrig, the Deputy President for Northern Uganda of the NUP party, was produced in court charged with inciting violence, contrary to section 79 (1) of the Penal Code Act. She was remanded to re-appear on 17 Feb, 2026, before Gulu High Court Chief Magistrate Augustine Alule

In Kampala, John Sebubu NUP supporter produced in Court in Kampala. The multiple NUP supporters charged and remanded, several NUP supporters and associates have been produced before courts in Kampala and other parts of Uganda on various charges, particularly connected to alleged unlawful drills or assemblies.

This includes cases before Kawempe Chief Magistrate’s court, where several supporters were charged with engageing unlawful military-style drills and were remanded to Luzira Prison
