UGANDA: ANITA AMONG CLAMP-DOWN: IS IT UGANDA POLITICAL TRANSISTION, OR A COVER UP FOR CORRUPTION?

Charles Onyango Obbo, argues his long time comrade Andrew Mwenda, why can you form the government and invites other to come join your new regime

Rather than the state-established institution being at the center of the anti-corruption drive, it’s the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, leading the investigations; there is a deafening silence on many political and military figures who have been looting and engaging in land grabbing for decades.

For example, Uganda Commercial Bank (UDC). Was sold at $1 initially in 1997, one of the General was behind but officially sold in2001 to the South African financial institution, standard bank (which later merged it with its local operations to form Stanbic bank Uganda Limited).

The Nytil (Nyanza Textile Industries) factory in Jinja was bought in 1996 by Southern Range Nyanza Limited. This private textile company, which operates the plant today, is owned by investors under the Picfare Group of Companies, with Kishor Joban Putra as the principal owner.

In 1998, Salim Saleh, a brother of President Yoweri Museveni, was implicated in the controversial sale of Uganda Commercial Bank (UCB), then the country’s largest and wholly government-owned financial institution.

The scandal stemmed from an attempted sale of a 49 per cent government stake in UCB to a Malaysian firm. Parliament intervened and halted the transaction after raising concerns about the transparency and credibility of the deal.

Saleh later resigned from his position as presidential defence adviser after admitting his role in brokering the sale to Westmont Land Asia. Subsequent investigations revealed that Westmont was a “briefcase company” with no proven banking experience, further fueling public outrage and criticism over the attempted privatization.

The government has reportedly frozen bank accounts linked to Anita Among and restricted her movement following a high-level security meeting involving top government agencies and Yoweri Museveni.

However, official confirmation is yet to be issued.

The exact number of bank accounts held by former Ugandan Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has not been publicly specified, though local security and financial investigations revealed she had multiple accounts. The Financial Intelligence Authority (FIA) reportedly placed a freeze on all bank accounts linked to

However, Former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has consistently dismissed the corruption and wealth inquiries as politically motivated witch-hunts and maintains that her wealth was legally acquired. However, she has faced mounting pressure, including the withdrawal of her bid for re-election to the speakership and multi-agency state searches of her properties.

The former His Worship Lord Mayor of Kampala, Erias Lukwago, poured cold water. The Emeritus Speaker Anita Among was the creation of President Museveni, no doubt. Anita Among is the collaborator of President Museveni to get money for the National Resistance Movement (NRM). Connected to Museveni was a project of the President.

“When she was taken to parliament, Anita Among was procuring officer money for NRM, where the class of parliament gave access money more than any other arm of government. Museveni has offered her test-tube baby to President Museveni. Now she brought down the image of the Uganda Parliament, now the Emeritus Anita Among’s behaviors that created President Museveni above the law. Ugandans now see Museveni as the second liberator of Uganda’s economy.”

The whole Uganda Parliament structure is gone. Why is this country treated like this? The whole MPs were behind you. Now, all things gone under LNP, now you can imagine the authority under you has gone. We should all be worrying about the state of the country. The choice is not the face of a new speaker.

Now President Museveni has been coming with a new brand, because of that high value, Museveni has come to rebrand himself by bringing Oboth Oboth. Oboth Oboth is a little complicated, the way Museveni did it in Gymnastics.  All is the same, President, the one telling UPDF that the center of Parliament.

What is the difference between you Oboth Oboth, and Anita Among, who is very extravagant? Don’t get excited that President Museveni will give you the Speaker; let Anita Among carry her own cross. What does it tell us? Is the success agenda that is playing? Their test-tube product. As a country, we need to get away from Museveni’s rule; we need to get away from Museveni’s son, Gen Muhoozi, the next empire.

Uganda should prepare their own agenda, now Museveni has made his agenda, Anita Among has gone, but let her not go with the face of parliament, how should we ensure that Parliament is not another statehouse? Can Oboth Oboth speak to the followers of parliament? We should make sure that Parliament does not go with Anta Among.

Let the other NRM MPs join us, because Oboth Oboth is another test-tube product, rather than being before that. Let’s see who is coming up in the project for the family ruling Oligarchy of President Museveni, not Oboth Oboth, we can succeed, then another history, we know that you are wasting time.

“Oboth Oboth this country does not belong to you; the Country belongs to all of us, Uganda.”

Andrew Mwenda.

Added, Anita Among has mastered the Art of Parliament; she has mastered the heart to win the interest of NRM and Museveni. You see all the affirmative groups, like the Youth Groups, the Women groups, the People with Disabilities Inspire. She needs Museveni to clip her wings, Gen. Muhoozi, Amanya Muskego.

The country takes on you, even if Museveni sticks with you for power; Anita Among has no tactical plan to overwhelm President Museveni. I told you that I want to meet President Museveni. There are three bishops: one is Catholic, Anglican and Muslim. The issues between Anita Among and Rebecca Kadaga, whom Anita Among accused of trying to kill her.

The meeting, the Anita Among issues came up, Gen Muhoozi said they should nominate another Speaker, Gen. Museveni said no, no no. You want to take over my role. Museveni reassures us that he is taking his guard.

On Sunday, the issues came when they were digging Anita Among’s house followers until they dug and got UGX 400 B inside the house, which we see as the primary ground between Anita Among and Museveni, who sees Anita Among as the revival product. Because Anita Among had issues with her police record.

“I think that is the fundamental issue with President Museveni and Anita Among.”

Charles Onyango Obbo, sip in these other issues of politics, because they have followed politics right from the primary up to the Presidential election on January 15, 2026. Her credentials were to seek the speakership. And I think that one of the alarm belts, when they go to Kyankwazi, that is where the issues emerge. If the parliament is to elect the president, that is the issue for me. We have to manage that, if it’s like the political space. She was not raised by the NRM power. Over the years, she has been arrogant and primitive, which I have been telling people, because she has been blinded. To me, I see that someone is testing if it is possible.

To me, if it is true, the president thought they would have an amendment to change the constitution to allow parliament to elect the president. Anita Among has not been very good when it comes to politics outside. I had the mayor of Homia when he lost the election; she told me that she called Anita Among, and she consoled me. We want to have a speaker of substance, with a good image. Anita Among lacks the power to understand how the power within the NRM was evolving, like Kale Kayihura and Amama Mbabazi.

Onyango Obbo, Uganda, has experienced insecurity; Anita Among has been ill-advised. Let us look in my view, let us look at this particular fight, in the 1990s whether Amanya Musega would sit down, Jimmy Muhoozi could sit down, NRM has gone done in fighting institutional, the. Like Dr Kizza Besigye, the president is now political capital; nobody has gone to advise Anita Among to stop whoever wants to entangle the NRM.

Onyago Obbo, I am reminded of 1980, when Paul Mwanga took over President Binaza Lukongwa, when President Museveni was the Vice President and Minister of Defense. Binaza was put under house arrest for six months. Now Anita Among is under house arrest; how is Gen Muhoozi?

Andrew Mwenda described Gen. Muhoozi as dressing in the simplest, live-in simple house, drinks a lot, in fact, Gen. Muhoozi is a comedy. I know Museveni is brilliant; he knows that you should not give a kid things at once.

Now I come to your question, corruption has gone deep, corruption is the engine, Anita Among drove the campaign election, Anita Among would not receive the Money where he knows. That is why he supported President Museveni throughout the campaign; that is why President Museveni got over 400 MPs. How do you manage the parliament without the money? I remembered that we ran the story about how the money is obtained by mortgaging their house. Are there MPs in Parliament?

“You have a parliament that is 70% without money. Anita Among understands that Museveni needs votes and money to run elections; that is why in the USA they get funding. Unlike in Uganda, you have to get your money.

I have praised the guys at Agora, you remembered that the man at Agora knows that the parliament needs money, and they share information. That is why Muhoozi sent the x twitter that you people will know how powerful I am, the PNL needs to change the parliament, that is why Museveni says sometimes you need to change the parliament, that is why Museveni believed in the Moshi meeting.

You guys, Andrew Mwenda, you need to change the parliament, and you called back other people that we are now in charge; the ball game has started. Chairman Mao has seen that.

Charles Onyago Obbo acknowledged that Mao has been shouting; that is why he challenged Anita Among don’t play with me. When you look at Museveni in the 1980s, he came with a broad-based government that accommodated the opposition parties; you guys must accommodate. Look at what the communists in China and the Soviet Union; there was opposition from outside China and the Soviet Union. When they came back, those were the capitalists who made changes.

Therefore, don’t think that President Museveni wants to stick to power.
