FLAMA Uganda has commissioned a new medical ambulance and launched the Gulu City Young People Project at Bomah Hotel, Gulu City.
The two-year project, running from July 2026 to June 2028, aims to promote positive attitudes and improved health-seeking behavior while expanding access to quality general health information, sexual and reproductive health information, and essential health services.
The project targets young people in and out of school, young women and child mothers, and less-privileged youth living in suburbs and slum communities.
The newly commissioned FLAMA Health Uganda ambulance is expected to strengthen referral networks and improve access to health services across the Acholi sub-region.
The ceremony was graced by Dr. Alice Akello, Dean of RDCs, who pledged support to FLAMA and the initiative. Other notable guests included Professor Amos Deogratious Mwaka, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Gulu University; Acholi sub-region LCV Chairpersons; RDCs; DHOs; CDOs; religious leaders; youth and disability representatives; NGOs; civil society organisations; and other stakeholders.
Speakers commended FLAMA Director Ms. Flavia Teddy Okello for her commitment to supporting communities and complementing government health programmes. The event was blessed by *Rev. Father Joel Okot.
The commissioning of the ambulance and launch of the youth project mark another milestone in efforts to improve healthcare access, health awareness and referral services for communities in Gulu and the wider Acholi sub-region.
