The road leading to Kaunda ground was colored by the NRM Yellow T-shirt party, yellow always means peace. However, inside, Richard Todwong was full of political untie Acholisim.
Words uttered by NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong send a clear warning to a multitude of NRM supporters and None NRM on looker who turned out to witness the NRM victory celebration organized aftermath of the January 15, 2026 election which was announced that president Museveni swept Acholi Sub Region in the last Parliamentary and Presidential polls by getting 79% votes, which National Unity Platform (NUP). Party President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine rubbish it Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), stuffed votes.
“For decades, NRM stalwarts were the National Resistance Army (NRA), soldiers in the likes of Major Gen. Julius Oketta, Lt. Gen. Charles Otema Awany, Major Gen. Fred Tolit and a few of us, Richard Todwong and Dan Kidega. But, now I have groomed Julius Achire Labeja Gunya, and Gifter Aber, who I have sent her back to school and study, in September last year 2025, when I organized NRM candidates at St. Monica Tailoring School, I asked Gifter Aber where she intended to stand, she told me she want to stand as Secretary for Councilor Five for Laroo-Pece East Division, I told her to pick the form for Laroo-Pece East Division, now you see”
I did not support Alfred Okwonga, Gulu City mayor, because he wrote a letter of resignation to the Office of Gulu Electoral Commission, and also to my office as Secretary General of the NRM ruling party. What else should I do to help him? I have to support Achire Labeja Gunya, because I have been grooming him. He was my personal Assistant when I was a minister in the President’s Office. I know him as an upright person, and I also sent him when he expressed his interest in going to Canada.
When we supported Norbert Mao, the Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister, we did not expect him to de-campaign us. As the NRM party, he went and campaigned for the Democratic Party (DP), the opposition party in Nwoya, where his candidate, Mao, went and campaigned in Toci County for DP candidate Okot Peter, and in Aswa County, he campaigned for Okello Patrick Onguti DP party candidate.
“When someone annoys me, I will sit down for 50 minutes to contemplate and strategies; that person will regret being a stumbling block for me,” Todwong warned.
Promising NRM stalwart that this celebration is just for a thanks prayer, but the mother of all celebrations he is going to organize later.
Aber Gifter, the new Mayor for Lar00-Pece, Gulu City Division, was excited when the NRM Secretary General introduced her to the pulpit.
Introducing herself by singing and dancing with her bemused supporters donning NRM party color Yellow T-shirt around Kaunda ground, joined by the Disable person who rolled their wheelchairs around the Kaunda ground, circling with excitement. Some of them, the people with disabilities, were women and men who could show their excitement by nodding their heads in affirmation.

And yet Gifter Aber, the newly elected mayor for Laroo-Pece City East Division, only promised to slaughter 30 cattle for the won celebration.
“This is not yet the celebration I have organized for my victory, I am going to slaughter 30 Bulls in the weeks to come. I will go to each ward, since we have 31 wards in Gulu City.”

A source familiar with Our Correspondent, intimated that Gifter Aber was given UGX 2 billion as financial support in the January 22, 2026, Mayoral election, which she used to buy salt, soap, and advanced UGX 20,000 to each household in Gulu City on the eve of the January 22ed 2026, election. Transporting voters to go and cast their vote, while also providing moral busing token was given to vulnerable youths, the notorious Aguu who became their heavenly hope for salvation.
Adong Jenifer, an older woman in her late 80 years old, was sitting in one of the tens in Kaunda ground listening with the hope, that her long suffering witnessing the gruesome war of LRA and UPDF would come to passed, when Richard Todwong handed over UGX 80 million to be given to them, she rose with excitement, they sat in groups, where they divided money among themselves, the lucky one went back with at least UGX 50,000.
Adong’s hope was dwindling, she remembered that her ground son is admitted to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital, that he need TC scan, with UGX 50,000 in her hand, first in her mind, was food, clothing and a good shelter. And yet the TC scan needed UGX 150,000 in addition to buying gloves and medicine, because Gulu Regional Referral Hospital always run out of medical necessities. And yet Ricard Todwong openly disclosed he supported Aber Gifter, would that UGX 2 billion money would not procure drugs and medical necessities for the needy Adong.
Gen. Charles Otema Awany, the elderly brother of SG Richard Todwong, was present to grace the occasion. He was invited by Martin Ojara Mapenduzi, the MP-elect for Layibi-Bardege West Division, and the incumbent MP of the area.
Martin Ojara was also excited to grace the gathering; his team on that day was based on forgiveness, echoing the preaching of the Rev. Father who preached. Argued the thousands banquet that I want to forgive those people who have been abusing my mother, although I did not abuse their mother. But I want to warn them that although I have forgiven them for the past one, I will not tolerate any abuse anymore.
“I know election fever has gone, there are some people, the likes of Otim Bosmic, who in the past have been abusing even the mother of Gen. Todwong, Gen. Otema Awany and many others. I would like to warn him that I am going to deal with him once he abuses my mother, who is an innocent soul. I thank Gen. Otema Awany for offering support toward my candidature. God will provide.” Martine Ojara Mapenduzi echoed.
Gen. Otema Awany, who seems to be behind what Richard Todwong does, in his speech, warned Norbert Mao never to dare to disengage with the NRM party again. We supported him, Norbert Mao, to stand for the Laroo-Pece East City Division, but later he began to de-campaign NRM candidates.
“Tell Norbert Mao to ring me, because he was complaining that I did not pick up his phone. I did not pick up Mao’s phone because he went to de-campaigned the NRM party, he crossed to Nwoya. Now I will talk to him if he calls me.”
