UGANDA: SOME STORIES WILL TOLD

We have learned the hard way

*”Some stories will be told”*

We have learned the hard way
The empty words
Fake smiles
Never did our existence get their attention
We were left to fade in our battles
No one cared about what we went through
They were never there for us anyway.

We are never bitter anymore
Because we have nothing except ourselves
We are on our own now
Their promise of support fade into empty echoes
They have no idea about our survival
The weight we carry never gets noticed
They avoid us in shades and barricades

They sound appealing when they need something from us
But they are always silent and not reachable when we need them
Their affliction of pain built our resilience
Their isolation of ourselves occasioned us to love loneliness
They have allowed us to accept our fate – the forgotten voices
Their crown and merry are never about us
Without shame, they no longer care but wonder how we do it against their venom.
