UGANDA: ICC IS FOR AFRICAN COUNTRIES LEADERS

According to the Prosecution’s submission of the Amended document Containing the charges of 17 April 2025, Joseph Kony is suspect of 39 counts of war crimes against humility Committed between 1 July 2002 until 31 December 2005 in northern Uganda. However, one wife of Joseph Kony in response to ICC Pre-trial in Gulu City on Tuesday September 9, 2025 stood up and told Maria B Kamara, the ICC outreach for East Africa that Joseph Kony, who she lived under his roof for 13 years have not committed any crimes.

The conference hall of Gulu Secondary school was full half way, he mood of participants could be seen yearning for justice either for Joseph Kony LRA war lord, or for victims of the forgotten worst world crisis of the 21 Century as hundreds of listeners glued to large TV screen with the hope for a better future for their children to come.

As the hearing began, the Deputy Prosecutor Maame Mandiaye Naing in his opening remarked stated, the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), began its attack in Uganda in the 10980s, when Kony sought to overthrow the government of Uganda, the militia went on to attack villages in DR. Congo, CAR and South Sudan. It was notorious for using child soldiers, mutilating civilians and enslaving women.

Later Uganda blamed Juvenal Habyarimana, the former President of Rwanda, Museveni and the western world castigated him, and the later over 5.5 million people in Eastern DR. Congo could not be accounted for since Uganda and Rwanda entered into Congo belt in 1997. Where are the ICC and why are they so obsessive to believe so that Joseph Kony could have carried war crimes against humanity against his people.

Deputy Prosecutor Niang, as part of his presentation to a panel of three bleak-robed Judges, showed multiple graphic videos of the destruction the prosecution says was wrought by the LRA, including a clip from Uganda Police video depicting a body being pulled from the rubble of a burnt-out building.

The presentation made by Deputy Prosecutor Niang enraged former LRA combatants sitting in the conference hall viewing the Pre-trial of Joseph Kony. Forcing one former LRA senior commander to be raised.

Josephine Akech, in her late 30s. “I am one of the senior LRA commanders who fought seriously, for about 12 years. I don’t believe in the ICC trial of Joseph Kony that he carried massacres in the 7 locations of Odek, Lukode, pajule, Abiya, Abok Pagak and Barlonyo because the Uganda People Defense Forces (UPDF), commanders always carried the under Fifth Colomos clandestine earth score attack.”’ Akech commented.

Maria B. Kamara, the ICC East African outreach in her reaction to alleged that the ICC id bias says Joseph Kony still remains a suspect which is presumed innocent before the law, insisted that after the confirmation of charges hearing concludes, the Pre-Trial chamber shall deliver its written decision within 60 days. Then the Judges of the Pre-Trial Chamber may. Confirm all or only some of the charges against Joseph Kony, but in this case a trial would still require Kony to be presented before the ICC as there is no trial in absinthia according to the ICC Rome Statute.

The Pre-Trial Chamber may decline all the charges and stop the proceedings against Joseph Kony; this may happen if the Judges decide that    available evidence is not sufficient or strong enough to go to trial as has been stated by the three Pre-Trail Chamber Judges. And adjourn the hearing and request the Prosecutor to provide more evidence, conduct adaptational investigation or any charge for which the evidence establishes a different crime than the one charged

However, Peter Haynes, Joseph Kony’s lead Counsel, argued that the proceeding compromised Kony’s right to fair trial due to his absence, “Noting.”

Akello Nancy, pen name, former wife of Joseph Kony. On her reaction to Lwala girls’ abduction of 2003, she says that although LRA have been found to abduct secondary school girls. She denied that LRA carried the abduction to Lwala girl’s school.

“’I am aware that the abduction of Gulu High Secondary school, Aboke girls’ Secondary school, Sacred Heart Secondary school took place, and those girls were taken to the LRA camps. I know of the first Joseph Kony wife who came back two years ago with her grandchildren.
