UGANDA:  LUO IN DIASPORA TO GRACE ACHOLI WELCOME EMERITUS CHIEF JUSTICE ALFHONSE OWINY DOLLO CHIGAMOI

On 14, March 2026. Gulu City will be Mecca, Luo from South Nyanza, Luo from DR.Congo, Luo Mwanza province in Tanzania and Acholi of South Sudan to honor Chief Justice Owiny Dollo Chigamoi at Gulu University

Amb. Dr. Olara Otunnu, the former UN Under Secretary for Children and Women Affairs unveil plan to welcome Emeritus Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny Dollo Chigamoi, I am happy to welcome you member of Northern Uganda Media Club (NUMEC), on Saturday March 14, 2026, officially we are hosting big gather at Gulu University football ground.

We have a big program in Gulu City to welcome our son, the great man, who made Acholi walk up with their head Justice Owiny Dollo Chigamoi, the program welcoming him after retirement for 17 years working as deputy Chief Justice and the first Acholi to become Uganda Chief Justice.

“We have invited Luo from diaspora, especially Jaluo from South Nyanza, Luo from Mwanza Province Tanzania, Luo from South Sudan, (Acholi) and Luo from DR.Congo. We are also inviting sons and daughters of the Luo from Uganda as well as senior government civil servants.” Amb. Dr. Olara Otunnu said.

Added that we are extending our invitation to all Acholi communities in all 8 districts from Acholi Sub Region. The first program will take place on Saturday March 14, which will attract all well-wishers.

Amb Dr. Olara Otunnu revealed that President Museveni will also attend emeritus Chief Justice Owiny Dollo welcome function at Kaunda ground, and the second gathering will take place on Sunday, March 15, at TASK center in Gulu.

He further disclosed that the dignitary invited are selected officials that included Acholi Clan leaders, opinion leaders, Rwodi Acholi and others big sorts.

The Sunday meeting at TASK center theme will focus on Pongdwongo Rocco Paco, reviewing of Dero Kwan, and revitalization of Acholi Cultural decadent.
