UGANDA: NORBRTY MAO PROMISED UGX 5 M TO CHRIST CHURCH CHOIR FOR MOMBASA MUSIC FESTIVITY DURING HIS FAMILY INTRODUCTION VISITS
Norbert Mao, has not forgotten his father's Major Okee Anglican Church
“Christ Church has been my church way back when Lapwony Michael Ocan used to walk with me in this church, although I wedded in Catholic Church St. Joseph Cathedral. Norbert Mao who introduced his father in-law and his wife Nambi Mao before the congregation of Gulu City Christ Church as the Congregation cheered him.”

Norbert Mao breaks the muddy wattle compound Christ Church in Gulu City, on Sunday an usual event that has never occurred, parked just Seven maters away from the entrance, stood humble quite in dark suit, Democratic Party DP tie greenish-white spotted, beside him was his wife stood silent Mrs. Nambi Mao to his left side as his motorcade’s vehicles lined up the Crist Church compound while his bodyguards adorned UPDF VIP soldiers stand in a distance place to beckoning that there is important Presidential General of DP and the Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister on Sunday August 17, 2025.
Sunday August 17, 2025. Was meant for the congregation of the Iteso community living Gulu City to present their offertory and even their man of God Rev. Opio, Dean of Gulu University Chaplain to preach. Since Rev. Opio would have not accorded Norbert Mao, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs a special recognition, but that deter him from his mission.
During introduction as usual, Rev. O Ayella Okot Labeja introduced Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Norbert Mao. Today I have one of the very important visitors amidst us. He is called none other than Hon. Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs. Mr. Norbert Mao who pays homage to us at Gulu Christ Church.
A moment, a medium built person 56 inches walked toward vesting. Hon Norbert Mao, bemused in diplomatic gustiness of smiling, took the microphone from Rev. Okot Ayella; introducing himself and the family.
“I came here to thank God and introduce my wife, Beatrice. You know I have been a bachelor for a long time. You know I have divorced and I being a long quiet, I would like also to introduce my in-law” Mr. Norbert Mao stunned the congregation who went into deep widespread laughter.
He furthermore added, “I would like to tell you about the church that has nurtured me, because I used to come here with Lapwony Ocan. The church does not support the politician, but the church has to support the mission. I have seen this new church architectural design plan for the church.
I have not been appointed to the committee of this construction of this church, but I am appointing myself to be one of the committees, I will come to attend the planning meeting that is going to take place.” Norbert Mao stressed.
Norbert Mao argued, we cannot avoid political leaders as we have conflict amidst us, I pledge to support calls to rehabilitate street children, because in Heaven there are no street children. I see a new church architectural design that accommodates rooms for children rehabilitation, that is very welcoming.
Introducing his wife Beatrice Nambi, who took the microphone and officially said. “I am called Beatrice Nambi Mao.” As Christ Church erupted out in ululation.
Later, Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Mr. Norbert Mao made a promise. “I am contributing UGX 5 million, me and my wife Beatrice Mao for the travel of Christ Church Choir who will be going to Mombasa, Kenya for International Music Festivity on October 27-29, 2025. You may hear some Bila from the congregation applauding you, that would be Norbert Mao blowing Acholi Bila.
Norbert Mao also introduced his long-time comrade Denis Ojwee, says this Choir master who is conducting choristers I have known him for many years ago. Ojwee has worked as International World Cup Referee, African FUFA Cup Referee and a seasonal journalist. He is not known because man of God always doesn’t show up in public.
Later Okumu Pelee, Christ Church Choir Chairman introduced his choristers and informed the congregations that, this year 2025 international heyems festival will take place in Mombasa, Kenya. Everyone who wants to take his or her holiday is welcome to accompany the choir.
“I am called Pellee Okumu, Chairman of this beautiful choristers, I am dressed in this dress because we are second vesting.” Okumu Pelle re-echoed.
