Both sides of the candidates for Woman MPs in Omoro District are arrogant in their quest for soliciting votes. The campaign Manager for Catherine Lamwaka, the incumbent Woman MP for Omoro District, behaved as a demigod while accusing his counter Campaign Manager for Betty Layika, the Independent NRM-leaning candidate.

The race between Catherine Lamwaka, the incumbent Woman MP for Omoro District, and Betty Layika is do or die as Puranga Community in Omoro district remained tight-lipped, sending fear to the deep state as the two iron ladies travestying and wooing the voters.
Ocen Joe Lamony, the campaign Manager for Hon. Catherine Lamwaka, the incumbent MP for Omoro District, stopped and warned the Northern Uganda Media Club (NUMEC), not to step foot in Lakim Village, Odek Sub-County, where they would be holding a campaign rally. The reason because the people of Omoro Community are attacking his candidate.
“NUMEC pressmen are not welcome during our campaign rally; only we invited them during our luncheon. Okumu Livingstone, I am not allowing you to go to our campaign ground, not even you, all the media are banned from covering our campaign. Otherwise, I can get back to you later on. I am not even giving you the Telephone numbers of my candidate.” Joe Lamony warned.

As of now, we have supplied Overcadoes over 30 million seedlings covering more than 200,000 households in Omoro District, we have supplied 15 million coffee seedlings to the voters in Omoro District, and Gen. Charles Otema Awany, the husband of Catherine Lamwaka, ordered over 300 million coffee seedlings to be distributed early in the year 2026, January, at on onset of rainfall.
“You people of Omoro Community, you don’t support the good things Hon. Catherine Lamwaka is doing, and yet Francis Mawa Okello, the campaign Manager of Betty Layika, is peddling lies that people should not vote for Hon Catherine Lamwaka.” I’m getting what I am telling you!

When a group of military men in plain clothes abducted her and spent two nights in a dungeon, Layika’s mother, Mrs. Peace, says her daughter Layika encountered death because she was a politician. Mrs. Peace Layika revealed that Betty Layika was abducted and taken to an unknown place, where she spent two nights without bathing or eating.
When I learned that Betty Layika is a resident of Bardege upscale residential areas near Gulu Airport, I contacted my brother, who is one of the UPDF high command in Kampala, whom she did not name for fear. Later on, his brother, who is one of the Deputy Chief UPDF land forces, tirelessly contacted both the Gulu UPDF Commander and Gen. Charles Otema Awany, both of whom denied being involved in the kidnapping.
“I believed that the kidnapping of my daughter, Betty Layika, was politically motivated, because some forces behind her disappearance wanted her not to be nominated.”
